FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Morganton, NC – The Rx Abuse Leadership Initiative (RALI) announced a donation of 400 safe drug disposal kits to help Caldwell County families combat the opioid crisis while continuing to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
RALI brings together community organizations and leaders who are committed to finding effective solutions to end substance misuse. By partnering with Caldwell County Blue Ridge Community Action, RALI is making these crucial resources to North Carolinians. As we continue to fight COVID-19, RALI and its local partners continue their fight against the opioid crisis, starting with the proper disposal of prescription medications. The safe disposal of unused, expired, or unnecessary prescription medicines is one of the bet strategies for addressing the nation’s opioid crisis.
Opioids are taking the lives of too many North Carolinians. As the state continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, substance misuse prevention efforts are critical. That’s why RALI is working with local organizations like the Caldwell County Blue Ridge Community Action and Representative Destin Hall to provide critical tools to fight prescription drug misuse in local communities.
“This donation of safe drug disposal kits is an important step to curb prescription opioid misuse, especially as North Carolinians continue social distancing,” said Representative Destin Hall. “With the help of community leaders and organizations like RALI, North Carolina can lead the nation out of the opioid crisis.
“Substance misuse continues to plague low-income communities across Caldwell County,” said Stephanie Ashley of Caldwell County Blue Ridge Community Action. “Thanks to RALI, we can help our communities safely dispose of unneeded prescription medications.”
